Privacy Policy
GradeQuest — Last updated: May 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information GradeQuest collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
GradeQuest is designed for families: a parent or guardian creates an account, and their child practices
using it. We are committed to handling all information responsibly and in compliance with applicable law,
including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1. Information We Collect
When a parent or guardian creates an account (optional)
- Email address and password — used to create and secure your account. We send a verification link to confirm your email. You can reset your password at any time from the sign-in screen.
- Learner name, grade, and subjects — entered during setup to personalize the practice experience for your child.
- Practice progress — XP, level, and per-topic performance data, so progress syncs across devices when signed in.
- Streak data — consecutive practice days, used to display streak rewards in the app.
- Optional topic filters — subjects or domains a parent assigns for focused practice.
When using the app as a guest (no account)
- Practice data is saved only on your device. We do not receive or store it on our servers.
When you contact support
- Your name, message, and any email address you provide are collected solely to respond to your inquiry.
Usage analytics
-
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate, anonymous usage patterns —
for example, when a practice session starts, which grade and subject is selected, and whether a user is
signed in or practicing as a guest. This helps us improve the app.
-
We collect only coarse behavioral signals. We do not pass your child’s name, email,
or any personally identifiable information to Firebase Analytics. We do not use analytics
data for advertising.
-
Firebase Analytics is operated by Google and may process certain technical identifiers (such as a
randomly assigned device identifier) as described in
Google’s Privacy Policy
and Firebase’s data processing information.
We do not sell your information. The app contains no third-party advertisements.
2. How We Use This Information
- To operate the app: authenticate sign-in, save and sync practice progress, and apply grade and subject settings.
- To personalize the experience: display the learner’s name and tailor content to the selected grade.
- To improve the product: analyze anonymous aggregate usage patterns via Firebase Analytics.
- To respond to support requests submitted through the app.
- To maintain security and fix technical issues.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:
-
Google (Firebase) — Account credentials and practice progress are stored in
Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore). Firebase Analytics processes anonymous usage events.
Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by
Google’s Privacy Policy.
-
Support form provider — Messages submitted through our support form are handled
by our form processing service solely to enable us to reply.
-
Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required to do so by law or
in response to a valid legal request.
4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
GradeQuest is used by children, and we take their privacy seriously. All accounts are created by a parent
or guardian who must confirm during sign-up that they are 18 years of age or older and
are creating the account on behalf of their child. Account creation is not possible without this confirmation.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
The account holder (parent or guardian) provides any personal information (such as the learner’s
first name and grade) on behalf of the child. We collect only what is necessary to operate the practice
experience.
Firebase Analytics, which we use for aggregate usage data, does not receive the child’s name,
email, or any other personally identifiable information from us.
Parental rights: If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information about
your child, or if you wish to review, correct, or delete information associated with your account,
you may do so at any time:
- Open Account in the app and choose Delete my account to permanently remove all cloud data associated with your account.
- Contact us via the Support page from the email address used to register, and we will respond promptly.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- Account data is retained until you delete your account or request deletion, except where we are required to retain limited records for security or legal compliance purposes.
- Guest data is stored only on your device and is removed when you clear your browser or app storage.
- Analytics data retained by Firebase is subject to Google’s standard retention policies.
- Support messages are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry.
To delete your account: open Account in the app, tap Delete my account,
confirm your password, and follow the steps. All cloud data associated with that account is permanently removed.
If you need assistance, contact us via Support.
6. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit, and rely on Google Firebase’s
industry-standard security infrastructure for data at rest. No method of transmission over the internet
is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect
your information.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of
this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of GradeQuest after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
8. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle information, please contact us at
support@gradequest.org, via the Support page,
or use the Support button within the app. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
